That is why it is recommended not to wash them before use. The oil cloth is intended to gently absorb the oil and myrrh from your child's body. That is why they must be made of high quality cotton. Do not forget that a set of oilcloths consists of the oilcloth, the towel, the small towel, as well as the underwear that comes into direct contact with your child. The cleaning of the oil cloths after the sacrament is also a small ceremony in itself, since according to tradition the godmother together with the mother must rinse it 3 times in the sea or river, i.e. in running water.
